the "aero" monster cometh...

Hello world,

This will be a shorter text post because I am elbow deep in sodium sulfite and other wonderful chemicals of days of yore and I am craving to get back in there. Many of you may know me as a digital shooter because that is what I mainly do for most of my clientele. But I have always had some type of film camera or 2 (or 3) around for some personal work. Usually is is something odd and very impractical. This post is about one such camera and the images it produces. Let me introduce you to "Cy" my one eyed monster. Don't let your mind drift here, we are talking about a monster 178mm f2.5 aero-ektar lens retro fitted on a focal plane shuttered 4x5 camera. This lens is SOOOOOO shallow and buttery it should be illegal. Actually it may be illegal in some places because it is radioactive. Thats right, if a geiger counter were to come anywhere near it, it would click like two bald guys in a bar, but thats a different story. The lens was made for WWII arial survailance not mounting on a 4x5 so it looks a little akward hanging out there on the lens board.

Anyway, I took it out with my good friend and film lover Richard Israel a couple days ago wanting to burn some polaroids and came up with a few keepers. Here they are in no particular order if you want to take a peak.

Keep on clickin'
