losing control

Hello world,

The term "losing control" always seemed to have a negative connotation in my mind. Loosing control of ones car...Bad. Loosing control of ones temper....Bad. Loosing control of ones bladder....Really bad. Ok, so we have to always stay in control. Right? I am sure that there are some of you that have been through an intensive 12 step program, you know who you are, that would say that yes indeed we do have to stay in control at all times. We have always been control freaks here at the studio. The thought of someone printing my work would have killed me 2 years ago. We hand made all of our own books for years because of my control problem. Each file has to be just so and each tone has to be just right and the sharpness of the lens must be sharp enough to resolve the hair on a gnats ass. I spend my days in front of this computer or printer being its bitch. I hate it and I am sure there might be someone out there that would give me an amen?? It is the nature of the beast and I realize that. But we need an escape, we need a creative outlet.

So, while in Atlantic City to photograph a wedding over the weekend, I decided to throw my cares to the wind and loose all control. I mean, I was in the AC as it is formally know up there, why not loose all inhibitions and go nuts. Right? Ok, so don't let your imagination run off with you. I was fully clothed, no escorts, no seedy massage parlors, no gambling or anything of the like. I do now know what a hoochie is though. I was shooting without a meter or any camera adjustments. A plastic lens,GASP! Oh my! I guess that would be a form of gambling huh? Holga, F100 and 3 rolls of film. Fun was had. The first double exposure was accidental then I thought I might as well continue on. By the way, half way through the roll I dropped the camera and the back came off in noon day sun. No fogging!! Are you kidding me? My workflow for these images was pretty intense. I dropped off the film, picked up the disc, put it in my computer, put a white border on em and uploaded here. The color and tones of film just cannot be beat! I am listening.

Ok, so Im not saying, "look what I did, I'm so freekin cool" or "please please give me a thumbs up on face book". As a matter of fact, please don't give me a thumbs up on face book. That's just saying, "well I like this but I am too lazy to type...cool, that sucks, great or any other short word or phrase. I'm saying, we all need to get our sorry arsses out from in front of the glow box and go outside and shoot for the fun of it at least a couple times a week. Lets make that homework.
