Asheville Portrait Photographer- Random
Today I bring you a portrait from the archives for the random Wednesday edition.
This is where I will randomly scroll through my portfolio of images and select one with my eyes closed and tell a little bit about it. I was so happy to see this one come up today. Meet Josiah Woods. At the time I made this image he was a high school senior with successful photographers as parents and amazingly talented and beautiful sisters! I guess he aint to shabby either! ha! Young and ambitious he had the whole world in front of him. I am sure it was probably shadowed by the family business of photography but there was something more that he wanted. Was it going to be a different direction or just pushing it further? This was my portrait of him looking to that uncertain future. There is a look of promise and certainty in his eyes. He's got this. Since this image was made he has graduated from film school in England and is now working close to me in Charlotte chasing his dream of moving pictures. Josiah keep on pushing. Never stop exploring. Say yes if you can. Listen to YOURSELF before others. YOU will always know who you are deep down. Let everyone tell you you cant> THEN prove them wrong.
For the techies out there, this image was made as a square format jpg in a Fuji XT-1 with a retrofitted 16mm cinema lens from the 1950's. I do find it ironic that I happen to use this lens with him and he is now pursuing a film career! Your welcome! ha. I love seeing and making these images in B&W and square.
