Asheville Portrait Photographer- How to slow down when life goes fast.
so stinkin’ cute!
This kid, am I right!?
I had the privilege to meet Finley and his folks last June and make their portraits. This kiddo sharp as a tack and so VERY polite! I was in wonder all afternoon exploring the forest with him while he was in wonder. We were just 2 kids playing. It seems I may have uncovered the mysteries of happiness.
Be a kid.
Be curious.
Be in wonder.
Play.
Thats it.
TIME. Time is what gets us. There just never seems to be enough and seems to be getting faster and faster the older we get. I know it is for me at least.
It may sound counter intuitive, but reflection seems to give me more time. Looking back at all of the photographs and videos I have created of my kiddo seem to give a richness and clarity to the time ahead.
He may be driving me nuts with wanting a new video game or to borrow the car (not there yet but its coming soon!). Reflecting back on those visual memories gives me the grace I need to be calm, clear, collective and a great dad.
May I present The Wonder Journal. A collection of fleeting photographs and videos created around the idea of seeing and remembering a fragment of time that is so dear to you. We don’t realize how dear this time is until reflected upon years later. This isn’t a keepsake or just a product being sold. This is a family heirloom. Pass it on.
I hope to see Finley again soon!
OH, and a side note… he played the ukulele on stage at Merlefest this year !!!
I LOVE IT!
I photograph children and adults in Asheville, North Carolina. Both in the nature and in my studio. I would LOVE to make your kiddo’s portrait!
